Welcome back to Vegan Beckles! When I started this blog I was working part time and had plenty of time to dedicate to blogging. Fast forward 7 years and I am married and no longer living at home. I am finally in a career I love that gives me enough free time to carry on my vegan blogging passion! My last blog post was back in 2015 but I’m here to officially announce Vegan Beckles is back!
Being a coeliac vegan was difficult when I started blogging as most gluten free products had egg in. If I was lucky enough to find vegan gluten free products they tended to taste like cardboard and cost a fortune! When I fancied some vegan cheese it meant getting on the bus and going to the nearest wholefoods shop where I would splash out up to £5 for a small block of soya cheese. My weekly food shop consisted of trips to lots of different shops to get everything I needed or fancied! Again, fast forward 7 years and things could not be more different. I can get my vegan cheeses, chia seeds, gluten free flour etc in most supermarkets. Last week I even bought nutritional yeast in ALDI!
According to The Vegan Society, the number of vegans in the UK has quadrupled in the last four years and demand for meat free food increased by 987% in 2017 (source). It seems that it is now easier than ever to be vegan as it is entering the mainstream. Now seems like the time to relaunch Vegan Beckles with a new look and lots of new content.
